Thousands
will be dancing on the High
Street as one of Europe's
most popular tribute bands,
Abba Gold, tops the bill at
the annual Stone Music
Festival.
"Their
shows are nearly always a
complete sell out,"
says a spokesman for the
Music Festival committee,
"and we're delighted to
have been able to book them
to come to Stone."
For
over 13 years, Abba Gold has
played in front of audiences
across Europe, in Bahrain
and South Africa. It's
estimated that more than two
million people have seen
them perform.
Their
High Street appearance on
the Sunday evening will be
marking the end of the
weekend of musical
performances on public
stages, in the pubs and
churches in the town.
"It's
early days yet, but as well
as Abba Gold there will be
performances by The
Blueshounds, Ambush, and Rob
McCulloch. The English
Costume Orchestra will play
in Christ Church where Stone
Choral Society will later
stage their 40th anniversary
concert.
Local
young people will take to
the stage in the town centre
along with Stone Town Band
an there will also be a a
busking competition."
says a spokesman for the
Music Festival committee.
The
festival gets under way on
July 10th on an open air
stage in Stone Market
Square. There will be
performances on the same
stage throughout the 11th,
in Christchurch and in the
canal side open air
amphitheatre.
On
July 12th, the event moves
to a bigger stage opposite
the War Memorial at the top
of the High Street an there
is a full day's programme.
Visitors
can picnic at tables and
chairs set out in the
traffic free High Street or
at the many pubs and
restaurants in town.
Throughout
the weekend, many of the
pubs in town will have a
programme of live music.
