It
has been a whirlwind
12 days for Rebecca
who explained “ it
all started the
previous weekend at
the National Rowing
Championships in
Scotland
. On the Saturday I
raced in a coxed 4
and won Gold. Then
on the Sunday the
club put together a
crew of eight in a
boat that we had to
borrow from another
club. The crew was
made up of 14 to 16
year olds. Although
the race was for
ages up to 18 we
managed to win gold
and were approached
by the GB coaches
straight afterwards
who asked if we
wanted to represent
England
in
Cork
Ireland
the following
weekend. Of course
we jumped at the
chance but left our
parents with only 3
days to raise the £4500
required to get us
there! Thankfully
though we recived
great support from
local businesses and
schools. We received
donations from
Trentham Estates,
WWRD, Michelin,
Phillips Healthcare
and PSCA
International. On
top of that both
St Joseph
’s college and
St Peters
School
also helped.
