Free Car Parking
|

|
There will be no charge at any of the borough council run car parks on the four Saturday afternoons
leading up to Christmas.
This should really give a Christmas boost for retailers in Stone. |
Parking will be free each Saturday from 1pm onwards on December 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd.
The Christchurch Way car park, which is currently having it's spaces increased form 21 to 70 is due to open in
the first week of December and charges will not come into effect until January 2.
Car Park
|

|
Work is underway to increase car parking spaces in Stone.
The development will see nearly 70 new spaces created at the car park in Christchurch Way.
|
The pay and display currently has room for 21 vehicles and the extra spaces will come as a welcome boost to
shoppers and retailers in the area. The work will extend the car park onto land at the rear of Morrisons petrol station and is expected to take upto
eight weeks to complete.
The Christchurch Way car park is due to open in the first week of December and charges will not come into
effect until January 2.
New Blue Bin
|

|
Later this year will see the introduction of a state-of-the-art blue wheeled bin for all
dry recyclables.
This will complement the green rubbish bin and the brown bin – which will take cardboard as well as garden waste
when the new service begins next February.
|
| Most householders will have their rubbish bin collected on one week and their recycling
bins collected on the following week.
Bins will be emptied on the same day every week as part of the improved service.
But residents who already have a customised bin collection - because of access or location difficulties they
experience with the service - will continue to have their waste emptied as before.
The “New Blue” bin will take all dry recyclable products. As well as taking all plastic packaging, glass,
textiles, cans and tins, there is a special detachable compartment inside the bin - that householders will not need to remove - for paper.
Residents who would like to find out more about the new service should visit
www.staffordbc.gov.uk and follow the “New Waste Contract” link or telephone 01785 619402.

Stone in the Pink!
|

|
Stone High Street once again turns pink from October 20th - 28th to mark Breast Cancer
Awareness Week 2007.
Shop windows will be awash with pink balloons, shop assistants will be wearing pink and look out for pink bows appearing in unlikely places! |
Back in 2005, "Stone in the Pink" was the first of many High Street events masterminded by the Stone
Town Action Group.
Show your support both for a really good cause and your local town centre by coming down to Stone High Street
on Saturday October 20th.
From 10am - 4pm, the mini ice rink will be back on the Market Square along with the Magical Walkabout Wizard.
