Countdown
to Stone Carnival
Helicopter flights from
Westbridge Park will be a
major attraction of Stone's
Carnival Saturday. Watch out
for details on how to book
your flights. This
could be the one and only
chance to see Stone as never
before.
The
dates for your diary are
Sunday 1st - Sunday 8th June
with this year's programme
offering all the usual
popular attractions plus
novel crowd pullers.
The Raft Race, Dog Show, Car
Boot Sale and Football
Tournament are scheduled for
the first Sunday, with the
Dog Derby and Steeplechase
Fun Run taking place mid
week.
The
Funfair on Westbridge Park
will run from Wednesday
evening until late Saturday
afternoon. And in this
its 250th anniversary, St
Michael's Church will host
the Carnival's closing
ecumenical service.
New
for 2008 are the Big Band
Concert featuring the VCO
Big Band at the Crown Hotel
on Friday June 6th and the
Battling Cumberland Giants
as well as the Helicopter
rides on Carnival Saturday.
"Stone
Carnival is a community
event bringing together all
the activity groups in Stone
and District to have fun and
raise money for
charity." says Festival
Committee Chairman John
Sayer, who asks any groups
planning to take part in the
Carnival Parade to contact
him on 01785 819807 by April
30th.
"We
are currently seeking
sponsors, either for the
Festival generally, or for
individual events."
Stone
Carnival offers great local
publicity, all the more so
as the full programme will
be included in the May
edition of the Stone
Gazette.
Keep
your eyes peeled for
sponsors in Stone Town
Centre and please support
them.
